Kundalini Yoga is a technology for raising the the Shakti energy (Kundalini) within each of us. The method used in class is that developed by Yogi Bhajan who went from northern India to California in the late 60s and started teaching practices of kriya, meditation, pranayama, nada yoga and bhakti that make up Kundalini Yoga to the awakening flower children. Since then Kundalini Yoga has spread all of the world and people practice for many reasons whether to improve their health or to develop a meditation or spiritual practice. Kundalini Yoga works directly on the energy body, nervous and endocrine systems so is fast working when a regular practice is taken up. Their are currently a number of scientific studies underway on the effects of certain Kundalini Yoga kriyas and the initial findings and publications point to significant positive effects on memory and alzheimers prevention, stress reduction and inhibiting the transcription of genes that can lead to inflammation and disease, you can read all publications here. When we take time to develop a yoga and meditation practice we create space in our lives for our own wellbeing and the contentment that comes from that and the world within us and around us begins to blossom brightly.
